Play Readings on 13th May and 8th July
There are lots of dates for your diary in this month's newsletter starting off with some play readings: Kathy Young is going to direct a reading of Bleak Expectations on Tuesday 13th May and Michael Young will direct a reading of Night and Day on Tuesday 8th July, at the Old Schoolhouse, both to start at 7.30pm

Mark Evans' stage play Bleak Expectations is a hilarious, chaotic caper, featuring dastardly villains, preposterous names, pulse-quickening romances, heart-rending death scenes, and definitely, probably, hopefully a happy ending.

Night and Day is a wry and provocative look at exploitation and corruption, journalistic ethics, freedom of the press and marital infidelity set in a fictional, copper-rich African nation.

Liquid refreshments will be provided, all are welcome and can have a turn to read a part, please do come along as our aim is to run these every other month if there is interest in it.

Welwyn Drama Festival

Final rehearsals are coming up over the next two weeks for Virtual Reality which Michael and Patrick Key will be performing as our entry into the Welwyn Drama Festival. Please come along and support - we are the last act on the opening night Monday 19th May, tickets are available from the Barn Theatre Box Office.

Town Hall Investment

Many of us visited the Town Hall on the Tuesday after Easter as this will be our primary performance venue going forward. There were lots of ideas on what we could do to make the space work for us and we do have funds available to invest in infrastructure and equipment subject to agreement by the Town Hall team. We’ve formed a subcommittee to come up with a proposal for this - if you’d like to get involved please email [email protected] - we’ll be meeting this month on 21st May.

Committee

Our next meeting is on 10th June, so if there's anything you'd like us to consider or discuss then, please feel free to contact any of us at any time via the Contact page of this website!

Third Thursday Social

Finally a reminder of our regular Third Thursday social which will this month be on 15th May, 7.30pm at the Old Bull, our chance to catch up with each other and chat about anything and everything - see you there.
