Pantomime Venue
We have good news and bad news. The bad news is that despite the extensive efforts of both CADS members and Town Hall staff we are not able to host the pantomime this year at the Town Hall for health and safety reasons. The good news is that King James Academy Royston (KJAR) have agreed to host it again this year, in their main hall on the senior site, so we're back on familiar territory. The bookings have been secured and it is full steam ahead!

Programme Competition

As we gear up for the panto we are holding a competition for young audience members, aged 7-11, to design the cover for the show's programme. We're looking for entrants to draw Dick Whittington travelling to London with his faithful cat to save the city from being overrun by King Rat and his ratty minions. The design should be A4 size and entries, hard copy only please, should be submitted to the staff at Bow Books by Saturday 20th December. You'll need to put your name on the back of the design, together with the name and contact details of your parent or guardian. The winner will be announced towards the end of the year and, as well as having their design printed on the programme, they will receive a family ticket (4 people, max 2 adults) for the show.

Box Office

Tickets for the Panto will go on sale online at 9am on Saturday 29th November, priced as last year £15 for adults, £10 for concessions. Performances are on Sat 24th Jan 2pm and 7.30pmSun 25th Jan 11.30amFri 30th Jan 7.30pm and Sat 31st Jan 2pm and 7.30pm. Sales are expected to be brisk and we usually sell out! The link will be posted on the website in late November along with another newsletter so watch this space...

  • Sun 16th Nov 9am->4pm
  • Fri 21st Nov 4pm->8pm

For safeguarding and safety reasons anyone volunteering must be 18 or over, we cannot make any exceptions to this. We must stress that we cannot allow any children on site in the areas we will be working in. Volunteers please just turn up at KJAR on the day - we will provide materials including paint however please bring along any tools you have you feel might be useful.

Tallescope Training

Looking into the future we're looking for volunteers who would be comfortable working at height and would like to be trained on the safe use of the Tallescope - this is the specialised ladder currently used in the KJAR main hall to access the grid on the ceiling for hanging lights and scenery. Training is funded by the group, if you're interested please get in contact with [email protected]

Third Thursday

Lastly a gentle reminder - our next social will be Thursday 20th November, as usual 7.30pm-ish at The Old Bull. Some will be involved in rehearsals which finish at 9pm, I am sure many will make it over to the pub afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you.
