(January 09, 2026)Your Panto Needs You! - Crew and Bar Staff
We're looking for volunteers to help out as stage crew and as front-of-house bar staff for the pre-performance and interval drinks. If you are interested please get in touch with CADS Secretary - all help gratefully received.
Welwyn Drama Festival
As usual the Welwyn Drama Festival will be held in May, last year we performed Virtual Reality and in 2023 we came third with Don't Blame It On The Boots. Please reach out to CADS Secretary if you'd like to direct something, or have a suggestion for a play, or be cast or crew. We will be finalising our entry soon after pantomime is done in early February.
Panto Box Office
Tickets for the Panto are on sale at YourBoxOffice priced as last year £15 for adults, £10 for concessions, and are selling well. Performances are on Sat 24th Jan 2pm and 7.30pm, Sun 25th Jan 11.30am, Fri 30th Jan 7.30pm and Sat 31st Jan 2pm and 7.30pm. Some performances are sold out, however others still have reasonable availability. With Christmas now behind us and the bleak month of January under way this is the perfect thing to lift your mood, please come along and bring your friends and neighbours too. We promise there will be no awful jokes ;-)
Play Reading 26th February
Just to prove that there is life after the pantomime we have organised our next play reading for Thursday 26th February, 7pm, at Coombes Community Centre. No need to book, just turn up, Michael will lead us through what is always a fun and easy-going evening.
Congratulations to Zoe and Julian
CADS is delighted to hear of Zoe and Julian's new arrivals as they gave birth to twins in early January. Our warmest congratulations to them all, and we look forward to their little ones treading the boards along with the rest of us very soon !!!!
New CADS Chair
On a more mundane point, given Zoe now has more important things to be dealing with she has had to step down as CADS Chair, and at a Committee meeting on 6th Jan Darren, our current Vice Chair, was appointed to step up as Chair until our next AGM in April.
Third Thursday
Lastly the usual reminder - our next social will be Thursday 15th January, 7.30pm-ish at The Old Bull. Some will be involved in rehearsals which finish at 9pm, I am sure many will make it over to the pub afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you.
