Bleak Expectations
Our next show will be a production of Mark Evans's hilarious Bleak Expectations, for which we held auditions on 4th March. It was particularly hard to cast this play as there were so many people who auditioned and the standard was really high. We know that some people will be very disappointed but we hope that they will not be discouraged from auditioning for future productions. Hopefully we will have the cast confirmed in time for a readthrough later this week. Thank you to everyone who auditioned.

AGM - 26th March

Our Annual General Meeting will be on Thursday 26th March in The Old Schoolhouse at 7.30pm. We will review the year gone and the year coming, as well as presenting our Annual Awards. All current committee members and officers will stand down with those willing to continue for another year offering themselves up for re-election. We welcome new committee members and officers with new ideas to share and experiences to draw upon, if you're interested and like to discuss with one of us before the AGM we'd be happy to help, please get in touch.

Playreadings - 14th April

The latest in our series of play readings takes place on Tuesday 14th April at 7pm in the Walmsley Room at The Old Schoolhouse when Michael Young will be introducing two one-act comedies with Shakespearean connections which he hopes will be the basis of the CADS entry in this year's Royston Arts Festival. Ruby of Elsinore by Bruce Kane sees the eponymous court hairdresser cutting the hair of (and exchanging banter with) Ophelia, Gertrude, Claudius, Hamlet and even the ghost, while To be or not to bother - a brand new play by David Tristram - has the members of the Little Grimley Drama Society attempting to put on an evening of iconic scenes from the Bard with minimal resources and even fewer actors.

It's hoped that one of these might also end up being the CADS entry in this year's Cambridge Festival of Drama and opinions may be sought on the night of the reading about which of the two plays members think might be a better choice for Cambridge. As with all our evening meetings, there's no need to book - just turn up on the night! It's completely FREE, and open to absolutely anyone, whether or not you've been involved with CADS in the past.

Subscriptions - Price increase

At last year's AGM we agreed to increase the CADS annual subscription which has stood at £15/year for many years now. The price for our new year (March 2025 to February 2026) is £25, and we also encourage extra donations.  As usual, paid members enjoy a free ticket to every CADS production during the year. For bank transfer, please use CADS, 40-39-22, 91389149, and add your name(s) as reference.

Third Thursday - 19th March - Casablanca bar

The usual reminder - our next social will be Thursday 19th March, 7.30pm-ish. As with last month we've decided to go again to the Casablanca bar, which had a different feel to the Old Bull and worked well. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
