Committee Minutes

As ever, the latest CADS committee meeting minutes are available on the Backstage area of the CADS website www.cadsroyston.org.uk . (And this month they actually are there!)

Pantomime Tickets

Cinderella is being performed on the 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st January at 7.30pm, with additional 2pm matinees on the 24th and 31st.  If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, they can be purchased by cash or cheque by calling 07925 674967, or online using Paypal or card via www.cadsroyston.org.uk . Tickets are £10 for adults and £7 for seniors and children.

Pantomime autism-friendliness

Emma Shaw is once again very kindly putting together a booklet for parents of autistic children.  This will explain the scenes in the show, the characters and warn of any special effects coming up.  Parents are also welcome to bring children along to the dress rehearsal so they can check out the stage and set, backstage areas, meet the cast and de-mystify the show before attending an actual performance.  The dress rehearsal will take place on Sunday 18th December. If you wish to come along, please get in touch with the secretary [email protected] to confirm the time.

Play reading group

Michael Young has kindly organised a play reading group, and the first meeting will be Wednesday 11th February.  We have booked the Oak Room at the Old Bull Inn in Royston from 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Drinks can be bought from the bar and taken into the Oak Room.

We will be reading Alan Ayckbourn’s Absent Friends.

Drama Awards

On Saturday 24th January after the evening panto performance, CADS will be awarding the Fred Sillence award for outstanding contribution to the performing arts and the Lizzie Houghton award for outstanding contribution to youth drama.  These awards are open to anyone living in Royston or the surrounding villages – they do not have to be a member of CADS.  If you would like to nominate somebody for this award, please get in touch with the Secretary [email protected]   Please also pass this information on to any drama/performing arts organisations you may be in contact with.

Arts Festival ideas

As panto is nearly upon us, we are already looking forward to ournext major production for the Royston Arts Festival in September.  If you have any suggestions for the committee to consider, or would like to offer to direct or produce a show, please get in touch [email protected]

AGM 2015

The 2015 CADS AGM will be held on Tuesday 14th April in the Oak Room at the Old Bull Inn, Royston.  The room is booked from 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

CADS as an organisation must hold AGMs and these meetings cannot be held without a minimum quorum attendance so do please come along if you can.  It’s a great chance to catch up with goings-on over the last year, find out about upcoming plans and vote in a new committee.

It is traditional for the entire committee to stand down and every post is then re-elected.  The committee looks after the month-to-month running of the group and helps to steer productions and offers support to the directors and producers of shows.  If you would like to stand for committee, you need no prior experience or longevity with the group, and you do not need to have been on the committee to stand for a named position.  The named positions are Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, with any number of ordinary members elected as necessary.

‘Christmas meal’ – Jan 17th

Last but by no means least is 2014’s Christmas meal!  Pressures of time meant we could not organise this in December, but we’ve managed to convince the chef at the Old Bull Inn to reproduce his Christmas menu for us on Saturday 17th January.  The menu choices will be emailed out separately soon, but if you would like to attend, please contact the secretary [email protected]. Two courses will cost £19.95, three courses £24.95, with drinks to be bought from the bar.

Space is limited so do please book soon!
