Committee Minutes

As ever, the latest CADS committee meeting minutes are available on the Backstage area of the CADS website www.cadsroyston.org.uk .

AGM 2015

The 2015 CADS AGM will be held on Tuesday 14th April in the Oak Room at the Old Bull Inn, Royston.  The room is booked from 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

CADS as an organisation must hold AGMs and these meetings cannot be held without a minimum quorum attendance so do please come along if you can.  It’s a great chance to catch up with goings-on over the last year, find out about upcoming plans and vote in a new committee.

It is traditional for the entire committee to stand down and every post is then re-elected.  The committee looks after the month-to-month running of the group and helps to steer productions and offers support to the directors and producers of shows.  If you would like to stand for committee, you need no prior experience or longevity with the group, and you do not need to have been on the committee to stand for a named position.  The named positions are Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, with any number of ordinary members elected as necessary.

Annual Subscriptions

Annual subs are due each February 1st.  Annual subscriptions are £15 and concessions £10.  You must be a paid-up member to vote at the AGM or propose motions.  Please contact Phil to pay your subs.

Play reading group

Michael Young organised, and Wendy Watts ran a very successful Play Reading of Alan Ayckbourn’s Absent Friends on Wednesday 11th February.  We had around a dozen attendees, including two new faces, and had several apologies.

The next play reading will be Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy, which we’ll be reading on Tuesday 21st April, at 7.30pm.  This time the venue is the side room at the Heath Sports Club.  This play is coincidentally (!) the centrepiece of this year’s Arts Festival submission… Attendance of the play reading will not sign you up for the Arts Festival, please feel free to come along and enjoy the play anyway!

Arts Festival 2015

The Royston Arts Festival 2015 runs from September 18-27 with a theme of “Illumination”, and the Committee Have decided to put on “An evening of ‘light’ entertainment”.  This will centre around a one-act play Black Comedy, with songs, sketches and poems to accompany.  David and Louise Atkins will direct the production.

We hope to organise auditions for the 27th April, and there’s a read-through of the play the week before (see above).

Advert: Hitchin Adult Pantomime

Several CADS members recently attended the Hitchin Adult Pantomime Aladdin Trouble, which is running at the Market theatre in Hitchin until the 11th April.  It’s a great show and well worth booking tickets to see.
