Updates re CADS’s entry for Royston Arts Festival 2015
We’ve had successful auditions for Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy: the cast has been chosen, and rehearsals begin next Monday.
Our evenings of “light” entertainment will couple Shaffer's play with a collection of shorter items such as sketches, songs and the like.
- If you fancy offering an item (or an idea), please get in contact with Phil Rowe, the show’s producer.
- The show will need a small team of techies, for which Phil will hold a recruitment meeting on Monday 11th May at 7.30pm, in the dining hall at Meridian School (please enter the building by the rear-side door near the gym).

Play-reading sessions
These events are open to absolutely anyone – we read round the room, taking turns with the characters.
April's play-reading evening was a huge success: we had a large group (21 people), and a lot of fun.
Our next play-reading will be on Tuesday 23rd June from 7.30pm ("for 8pm").  It will take place at the sports centre bar on Royston heath (in the side-room, again), where we’ll be reading Willy Russell’s emotive Blood Brothers.

Panto 2016
We’re delighted to announce that the CADS pantomime for January 2016 will be Aladdin, written & directed by Ian Sims.  Auditions will be held in early October.
Please note that there’s also an opportunity for someone new to take over the reins for Costume design & creation!  For further details of this role or to register your potential interest, please email the CADS secretary.

Other local events to support
The Ladykillers
CADS’s own Wendy Watts will be performing a lead role – guess which!
11th-13th June – at The Settlement in Letchworth, SG6 4UB  (tickets from David’s Bookshop from mid-May onwards)

Pages Turning
Alex Crockford, one of CADS’ younger members and previous winner of the Lizzie Houghton award, has written a musical (score by Jeremy Bridle) featuring an amusing journey of 5 children travelling through 5 different genres of book.  The production is in conjunction with Duxford Saturday Workshops (for more information contact Alex on 07743 303643).
Saturday 20th June, 4pm at Duxford Primary School, CB22 4RA.

The Wizard of Oz
Support the CADS stars of the future, at Greneway school's production.  In technicolor throughout...
2nd-4th July – at Greneway School, Royston  (tickets via school office – 01763 243650).

This year we saw a great turnout of 25 people, including new faces.  Amongst the discussions, the new Chair reaffirmed CADS’ openness to staging events of various types, sizes and venues – not simply to limit ourselves to a routine of 2 shows each year in Meridian.  If you wish to put such an event together with CADS’ support, please get in contact with the CADS committee.

Your new committee comprises:
Pat Houghton & Peter Worthy (Honorary Presidents)
Ian Cowley (Chair)
Phil Rowe (Treasurer)
Wendy Watts (Vice-chair)
Rupert Jordan (Secretary)
Emma Shaw
Donika Jordan
Ian Sims
Barbara Perry
Dave Humphrys
Jill Buggey
